Ian Bartholomew

Ian Bartholomew

Sales and Marketing Director

Ian joined Monarch Aircraft Engineering in 2003 and is responsible for the management of the sales and marketing department, including the acquisition of new business, advertising and marketing campaigns and for ensuring current customer contracts are delivered to an extremely high standard.

With over 20 years experience in the aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul industry Ian has previously held senior commercial management roles at Air UK and KLM uk Engineering, where he was responsible for major contracts, purchasing and logistics both within the UK and the Netherlands.


David Websdale

David Websdale

General Manager – Asset Management

David joined Monarch Aircraft Engineering (MAEL) in 1998 and is responsible for the optimisation of the MAEL assets, negotiating external repair contracts and maximising the revenue accrued from the assets held. His role as General Manager – Asset Management also oversees the Component Maintenance Centre at Luton.

With over 24 years of asset management experience, David has held Senior Manager Supply Chain positions at BA Heathrow and Cardiff, where supply chain activities were his primary responsibility.


Lee Burgess

Head of Sales and Capacity Planning

Lee joined Monarch Aircraft Engineering in 1988 as an engineering apprentice and after 18 years learning his trade as a qualified Aircraft Mechanic, he moved into his first management role in 2006. Since then, Lee has managed both the Maintenance Group Planning and Capacity Planning departments, before stepping into his first senior management role as Head of Maintenance Control and Capacity Planning in 2008.

Now, as Head of Sales & Capacity Planning, he is responsible for the acquisition and introduction of new business to ensure the maximum utilisation of Monarch Aircraft Engineering’s facilities.


Andy Lowi

Regional Sales Manager

Andy Lowi joined Monarch Aircraft Engineering in 1989, working within the Logistic Supplies Department purchasing everything from office stationary and furniture to aircraft material. He has also worked as a Priority Support Officer on the AOG desk, where his responsibilities included locating spares for down-route AOG line aircraft and arranging sales and loans to other airline industry counterparts.

He became Regional Sales Manager in 2005, working within the Sales and Marketing team and is responsible for seeking new business within the industry for the company’s five core business areas.


Neil Kirby

Sales Manager

Neil joined Monarch Aircraft Engineering in 1996, working initially within the Stock Audit and Logistics Handling Departments. In 2001 he joined the Sales & Marketing team and became a Customer Support Supervisor where he was responsible for managing the commercial aspects of Monarch Aircraft Engineering’s base maintenance contracts. He held this position until 2010 when he took on the role of a Sales Analyst, analysing RFP’s and generating sales proposals.

Now, as Sales Manager, Neil is responsible for the acquisition of new business in the line and light maintenance sectors.


Andy Connolly

Customer Services Manager

Andy has worked at Monarch for over 25 years in various capacities, starting out on the hangar floor for three years before moving into a Maintenance Planning role. He then spent seven years in Customer Support looking after customers such as Air 2000, Canada 3000, Air Belgium and Translift before going back to the hangar floor into Production Control for two years.

Andy then joined the Monarch Airlines Account team and was responsible for looking after Monarch Airlines’ interests within Engineering, which led to becoming the Commercial Representative for Monarch off site checks. Having held this position for 11 years, he joined the Sales and Marketing department in 2010.


Michelle Wiles

Michelle Wiles

Marketing and PR Executive

Michelle joined The Monarch Group in 1992 where she worked with Monarch Technical Support who specialises in providing tailored aerospace personnel. In 2006 she joined the Sales and Marketing Department where she currently holds the position of Marketing and PR Executive.

With over 19 years experience in the aviation industry, Michelle’s is now responsible for all of Monarch Aircraft Engineering’s Marketing and PR activities.
