Mick Adams
Managing Director, Monarch Aircraft Engineering
Technical Director, Monarch Airlines
Mick has worked in the Commercial Air Transport sector with Monarch for several years and prior to his appointment to Managing Director, was the Maintenance and Operations Director being responsible for all operational elements of the business including; Base and Line Maintenance, Component Overhaul, Procurement and Logistics. Mick also leads the company Quality and Safety Management team, is the Technical Director of Monarch Airlines and is a member of Monarch Group Management Board.
Having worked for Monarch twice – his first period with the company spanned 18 years, followed by a period in the Business Aviation sector of 8 years working for Harrods Aviation serving as; General Manager Engineering, Technical Director, Maintenance Sales Director and Operations Director.
Mick is a licensed aircraft engineer trained originally in the field of avionics. He has a management diploma, is a member of the Institute of Directors and a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society. Having worked in military, business and commercial aviation sectors, fixed and rotary wing, Mick has a very broad technical and leadership knowledge base. He participates in supporting several industry and regulatory forums and is driven by maintaining high standards and helping the business and its people to succeed.

Ian Bartholomew
Sales and Marketing Director
Ian joined Monarch Aircraft Engineering in 2003 and is responsible for the management of the sales and marketing department, including the acquisition of new business, advertising and marketing campaigns and for ensuring current customer contracts are delivered to an extremely high standard.
With over 20 years experience in the aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul industry Ian has previously held senior commercial management roles at Air UK and KLM uk Engineering, where he was responsible for major contracts, purchasing and logistics both within the UK and the Netherlands.

Derek Gibson
Maintenance and Operations Director
Derek began his career as an apprentice with Monarch in 1981 and worked as an aircraft engineer on the Monarch fleet until 1987.
He then took up several sales roles outside of the aviation sector before returning to Monarch in 1991 as a Sales Engineer, moving to a more senior sales role until joining KLM UK as Head of Engineering Marketing and Sales between 1996 and 1999.
He returned to Monarch in 2000 as Sales and Marketing Manager and in 2003 was promoted to Commercial Director. 2006 saw him take on the position of Operations Director with sister company Monarch Technical Support before his role was expanded to cover the leadership and development of the sales division in 2009 by becoming Sales and Marketing Director.
Derek has now taken the role of Maintenance and Operations Director, where he has overall responsibility for all of Monarch Aircraft Engineerings operational requirements.

Keith Earnden
Engineering Director
Keith joined Monarch in December 2010 as Engineering Director and is responsible for the management of Continuing Airworthiness activities undertaken by Monarch’s Technical Services and Planning functions. He is also responsible for the management of the Design and Projects team within the business.
Prior to joining Monarch, Keith was with Cobham Aviation Services (FR Aviation), where he spent 6 years as Contract Manager, Chief Engineer and most recently, Engineering Director responsible for Line and Base maintenance for a fleet of 26 aircraft. Before his time at Cobham Aviation Services, Keith also spent 2 years as Director of Engineering at Emerald Airways Engineering as well as over a decade working as an Engineer with the RAF.

Wal Mackey
Finance Director
Wal Mackey had nine years with "Big Four" accountancy firm KPMG in Auckland, Sydney and London, mainly involved in audits and acquisitions.
He held a number of Finance Director positions before his appointment at Monarch Aircraft Engineering Limited in February 2010, including nine years at engineering group Atlas Copco and three years at printing and packaging group Boxes Holdings Limited.

Pauline Prow
Group Human Resources Director
Pauline is responsible for all aspects of HR for all the businesses within the Monarch Group. She joined Monarch in June 2009 initially as HR Director for the Airline and Engineering businesses moving to the expanded Group HR Director role in May 2010.
Prior to joining Monarch, Pauline had spent 30 years in the automotive sector with General Motors (GM) where she held a range of senior HR Management positions within the warehousing, manufacturing and corporate divisions both in the UK and Europe.

Laurie Diffey
Group Technology Director
Laurie has worked in IT for over 20 years across a number of industries, and is responsible for all aspects of information technology across the Monarch Travel Group.
Having spent the 1990s in various consultancy roles, Laurie spent four years in Auckland as Head of IT for Air New Zealand’s low cost subsidiary Freedom Air. Laurie joined Monarch in 2004, working in several IT posts until his appointment to the board in February 2009.
